Afrobeats

Afrobeats is the next uptapped source of great musical creativity. It just has not hit its stride yet. But the late, great Nigerian musician Fela showed that Afrobeats could become commerically viable if properly packaged. And he sung in English and Yoruba. The problem is with a lot of the true talent refusing to "code switch" like Fela: staying close to their roots by singing strictly in Twa, Kiswahalli, Yoruba, Amharic, Oromo, Igbo, Somali, Hausa, Manding, and Fulani. The audience who may be receptive will not consume this music raw. however. Or not enough to make it commercially viable. Some Afrobeat singers will adapt, many will not. The ones that do will become superstars like Fela because cream always rises to the top.👏🏿
